Practical books of forgotten
formulas from the 1930's, and more modern books how I turned my hobbies
into jobs.
If you have
come to this page because you received an order form card from someone,
please be sure to type their tracking number in the "optional
instructions" box when paying with your PayPal account. This
tracking number is in the bottom left hand corner of the order form, and
would look something like "Tracking # A29F1". They deserve the sales
commission, and you still get to order your books instantly to be sent out
within three of my business days.
Hello, I’m out to sell books, and I’m
hoping that you will both buy, and sell them for me. I have been
writing how-to booklets and modernizing these forgotten formulas for
six years now. After several expensive attempts to place classified
ads in likely magazines, I was pretty discouraged. Then I realized I
needed a large sales force. Who better than those who have already
read my books?!? I’d rather pay you than the magazines, so I’ve a
proposition for you. If you’ll mail the 50 order form cards
included with each book, and/or sell them in person, I’ll pay you for
each book sold. You will be paid a $2.50 commission if I have to mail
you a check, or a $8.00 commission for e-mailed PayPal payments.
Paydays will be every other month that your account reaches $20.00,
with no balance held more than six months. Some sell ten books, while
some don’t sell even one. I’ll help all I can. Each book comes with
a sheet of sales tips, 50 post card order forms, and 25 address labels
of likely prospects. Those who send out post cards on a monthly or
weekly basis usually order more cards and labels with each book they order. If
you are just doing this for the commission, please read the books,
too! I worked hard on them. Good luck, Kathy Fox.
Starting An
Internet Based Manuscript Editing Business: $20.00 Yippie- a home business that only
requires a computer & good grammar. This book covers everything I've
learned while starting up and operating an internet based manuscript
editing business. Some of the subjects covered include equipment and
software selection, payment systems, the decisions made during the
design of this website, researching the competition, advertising costs
and strategies, and market fluctuations. Things you really need to
know if you are planning to edit books from your home. Come to think
of it, this book would be pretty handy for most people starting an
internet based business. The only thing I don't teach you is the
editing skills themselves, but I do list several software products
that can help to teach you. If you ever read books and
advertisements that have errors that just leap out and bug you, you
are probably editor material. Several of the same equipment and
advertising strategies would be helpful to any new web based
business. I must admit, I do love scheduling my work around my life
instead of the other way around.
Starting A Massage Therapy Business In MN:
$45.00
Are you good at giving backrubs?
MN hasn’t required any formal schooling for massage practitioners
since May 11th, 2000. Cities may have there own rules, so check with
them first. I had to go from Duluth to Proctor when Duluth changed
it’s laws last August, but saving up to one year & $7000 of school was
worth it. This book covers contraindications (when not to rub or
you’ll cause injury), tips on things like self care, good but cheap
massage oil recipes, getting oil out of sheets, and how to comply with
MN laws and taxes. Free if you take a 2 day seminar in Duluth for
$125. See my website for schedules. I will come to any MN town for 3
or more people. Yes, you could look it up yourself, but it took me 2
years, so why not use my research, experience, and mistakes?
Practical Disaster
Preparedness: $20.00
A practical, and cheap as possible way to be more prepared for
disasters, both natural and man-made. While the main emphasis is on rural
strategies where services are usually last to be restored, but we have
the most storage room available, there is still much that will make
sense for the urban dweller as well. There are several levels of
preparedness and seasonal strategies laid out. With these
different levels, you should be able to have a realistic, practical
way to take care of yourself and your family until help arrives even
if you don’t have bags of money. And while preparing to stay
safe and comfortable at home is very important, most people find it
even harder to properly prepare for an evacuation. Having an
emergency plan for your medicines and important documents is at least
as important as laying in a week or so of food and water supplies. I think that buying this book
will be a better investment than taping plastic sheeting over your
entire house with duct tape. Although I am a northerner, which
explains why so much of this applies to winter preparedness, there is
much information that applies to
wherever you live.
PVC Greenhouse
Frames: $20.00 Dirt cheap
at about $1.12 per square foot in my area, and usually no foundation
or permits are necessary. There are 3 styles, and cut parts lists for
over 30 sizes! These greenhouse plans range from 8’ X 5’ to 20’ X
60’. A little math to add on 5’ sections will allow you to make each
greenhouse style as long as you like. PVC is probably one of the
simplest materials to make a greenhouse frame out of, as for small
projects, all you need is a hacksaw and some PVC cement. If you make
a mistake or need to make a repair, it is very simple to cut the bad
part out and glue in a new piece. Look at the prices of
ready-made greenhouses in your area, and I’ll
bet that having a 8’ X 15’ greenhouse for less than $150.00 sounds
pretty attractive. You may even be able to start a little business
building them, and selling my plan books for a longer term income.
After all, most people who sell my books don’t see the entire 4 levels
of sales commission come in until six to eight months after their
first sale, so a new sale every few weeks could get you a long term
income that builds every few weeks.
Metal Plating
Formulas: $20.00
My favorite book of forgotten formulas, I've had a blast trying out
these things and adjusting the formulas for more consistent results. Formulas for
plating metal without electricity from the 1930’s. There was a good
reason that so many things used to be nickel-plated. Some of these
formulas are as simple as a paste to be rubbed on copper bearing
alloys to deposit a layer of nickel-plating one molecule thick. While
it should be protected by a layer of lacquer, this is a great way to
restore or customize metal trim.
One of the nice things about these formulas is that you get a unique
finish to your metal crafts, statues, trim, and hardware that is never
exactly the same from one base alloy to another.
Whitewash and Milk Paint Formulas: $20.00 10 formulas for a relatively durable whitewash. Those of you who have
tried using a plain lime and water whitewash on your farm will understand the
value of a formula that can withstand several rains. These formulas
vary in both their durability and difficulty. Included are some
historical formulas for true skim milk paint. As the production
process for genuine milk paint is hazardous, expensive, and a shocking
amount of work, they are included here just because I thought it a
shame to let them be lost to the passing of time. Whitewash has many
uses, and lends itself well to the image of many small farms.
Many people trying to restore a small farm have asked me how to repair
a cracked or damaged wall without removing the whole accumulation of
whitewash. After a bit of trial and error, we have discovered a
way to do a fair repair job of those many layers of yearly whitewash.
I hope that you get good use out of this
relatively long lasting and inexpensive rural standby.
Insect
Repelling Formulas: $20.00 Old fashioned comfort for man and
beast made from essential plant oils. Especially good for hobby
farmers, as there are many suggestions for the most efficient ways
to use these home made oil repellents. These tips and
suggestions also work with the commercial preparations. PlusDistilling
Essential Oils: A simple lard based process that yields craft quality
oils. This is a nice way to make a very personal product from
the flowers and herbs produced in your garden or PVC Greenhouse.
Raise Meat Not
Myths: $20.00 Raise rabbits at home for a steady supply of high quality meat with
little investment. Unlike starting right out raising a cow for beef,
rabbits need only about 24 to 36 square feet, no huge pastures to
fence, and butchering can be done on a meal by meal basis. Quite
handy if you don’t have a huge freezer, or if you think your
electricity may be interrupted for an extended period of time.
Oh, yeah, while they may scratch or bite you, it's not nearly as
painful or even deadly as a kick from an 800 pound beef steer. PlusSour Dough Bread Starter: If you have ever wanted to grow your
own sour bread starter, here are several ways to capture and nurture
the wild yeasts around you. There are also a few sourdough recipes so
that you have something to do with the yeast the breeze has brought
you.
Additional
sets of 50 order cards with targeted mailing labels: $5.00 I purchase these labels in huge
quantities targeted to small farmers, self sufficiency groups, and
entrepreneurs (often spoken of as get rich quick or sucker lists.) As
most of these companies require at least 10,000 addresses as a minimum
order, I can break up the sheets and pass this savings on to you.
While I don't have an internet based way
to track sales over the internet, some clever people have come up with
a way to still get their sales commissions without physically sending
people the post cards. If you are expecting to use email, the
internet, or your website to make your sales, here is how they've done
it. They order whichever book they want, and when they get an
order over the internet, they send in that order on one of the 50
order post cards they received with the book that has THEIR sales
tracking number on it. When the book reaches them, they simply
forward it to their customer's address. It's a bit awkward, but
I haven't found a secure way to do otherwise. Anyhow, an $8.00
profit on an item you don't have to buy ahead of time is still pretty
good. Or you
may refer them to this page, making sure that they know your tracking
number in the hopes that they will follow the instructions at the top
of this page. Not as sure a thing that you will get the credit
for the sale, but aside from doing the advertising, you have no work
to do. All you have to do after getting the ball rolling is to
spend the money coming into your PayPal account every two months,
assuming you do sell these books.
If you don't have a PayPal account, sign up now and get $5.00.
It's free for you, and more secure for both of us. All I'll know is
your email address, not your bank account or credit card information.
If you only have a C2it account, that's free for you, too. Just tell
me what you wish to order, and I'll send you a return email telling you
how much to send to my C2it account. These PayPal buttons just make
the process faster, as we don't have to play email tag before I can
send out your book. If you ever wish
to sell items or services on the net, PayPal makes it easy for you.
Accept credit cards without extra costs to you, and no cost at all to
your customers. They even have a free debit card with cash back
on purchases so that you can instantly access your earnings.
Yes, I want you to make money! I'll
even be happy if you become a successful editor. Many more
people buy books on how to start a business than actually go through
with it, and if a few of you become better editors than I am, I can
live with that. I pay out $8.00 in commissions on books sold by
others, and still make about $6.00 per book myself. That seems pretty
fair to me. The more books you sell, the more money I make.
It takes about 9 hours of labor for me to print, bind, cut, package,
mail, and do the tracking paperwork for every 100 books. After
having put in a few hundred hours writing them, I appreciate reaping a
3 hour a month job that brings me $60.00 per hour. Not nearly
as much as I enjoy manuscript editing and massage, but it's about time
I made some money teaching others what I know. Each book comes
with a sales tip sheet outlining free or inexpensive ways to sell the
books. I hope that we can help each other. If you have any
questions, please feel free to e-mail me at
editor@foxesfarm.com.
Have a nice day.
