From the Editor - Jill of all trades, master of none.

Don't worry, I'm still editing manuscripts.

These days I'm working at American Precision Avionics.  Getting in on the ground floor of a start-up business was exciting, and I got a new job title every couple of months.  I started out as an assembler, but in a couple of weeks I was training new hires and developing written processes for new wiring harness assemblies.  Then I got a real title as Quality Inspector.  Then I became Line Lead, which was followed by Internal Process Auditor.  We got our ISO certification on the first try.  Great job everyone, I was so proud and relieved.  Then the Komax Gamma 33 PC automated wire processing machine and laser were installed, and I got to operate it for a year and a half.  Well, things have changed, and I am back to being an assembler again, with no change in sight.  Assembly of tiny electronic parts is the biggest waste of my talents and experience possible in that building, especially as my eyes aren't getting any younger, so it's time to move on.  I really had hoped that this would be the job I retired from.  But even if I get back into the engineering department, this company just isn't compensating enough for me to stay.  I'll miss this place.  10 hour days, flexible scheduling, air conditioning, and being able to wear headphones are all wonderful perks, but there must be a better use of my problem solving and teaching skills.  Industrial processes, here I come.

Oh yes, and I'm starting up www.DuluthSignSupply.com again.  Now that I've well recovered from the illness and surgery that caused me to close that business along with Proctor Massage and FoxesFarm computer repair 5 years ago, I'll use the 3 day weekend at my current job to look for work and build sign making start-up packages again.  I do enjoy teaching someone a new business.

Enjoy exploring my website.  Archives of news and photos of the farm coming soon.
